The LWO is back, and they’re taking up a lot of space on the WWE main roster. Legado Del Fantasma and Rey Mysterio are now a formidable force, but WWE has its reasons for assembling this faction.
Many fans were thrilled to see Rey Mysterio distribute LWO t-shirts before to his WWE Hall of Fame induction. Despite their lack of success in major matches, the squad still has the potential to draw a lot of attention. That being said, the LWO isn’t getting the best treatment right now.
WWE has motivations for assembling this stable, according to PW Insider Elite. According to reports, the LWO will be used to build a Judgment Day match for WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view.
As for why the LWO is being utilized the way they are currently (basically being manhandled), we are told that it’s just part of bullding up Judgement Day for the Backlash PPV in May as part of the storyline with Bad Bunny and Rey Mysterio. That said, in my opinion, they really need to get the Rhea Ripley vs. Zelina Vega story kicking off if they want that match, which is scheduled for the PPV, to mean something worthwhile. Vega has been backstage at recent TVs and not even used to appear as part of the group, which makes zero sense.

We’ll have to wait and see how the LWO is booked in the next months. They have a good chance of being part of WWE programming, but a lot of factors will come into play.
Obviously, the LWO’s handling will be heavily influenced by fan reaction. The fact they sell a lot of merchandise can’t be bad for them. This iteration of the LWO, hopefully, will have a longer and more fruitful run than the original WCW stable.
