OTT Owner Joe Cabray On AEW Promise To Fulfill Jon Moxley Bookings
On the 18th of March 2023, European Wrestling’s premiere independent promotion Over the Top Wrestling hosted their annual showcase event ‘ScrapperMania’ from the National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Fans and wrestlers from all over Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Europe travel each year to see this tentpole event and is a must-see on the independent wrestling scene’s annual calendar.
Par for the course with these events, headline names are booked annually, at a great expense to promoters, and excitement levels amongst fans can often reach a fever pitch. The leading headline name for the 2023 iteration was announced as being AEW’s leading man – Jon Moxley. Unfortunately, owing to a communication issue on AEW’s end, AEW booked their top star for a domestic house show, without informing the talent, nor OTT who booked said talent.
Speaking on the OTT podcast, OTT owner Joe Cabray discussed the communications he has had with the North American promotion, as well as what they have said in regard to efforts to make good their earlier communication issues:
‘AEW understands that it was a bad situation for all involved, and they’ve expressed about making it up to us. I’ve good faith in AEW that they’re gonna come right and do some sort of makeup, whatever that may be.,’ said Cabray. ‘I think my faith in AEW is good. They understand there was a lot of money just dropped on this. Delta has allowed us flight credit in Jon Moxley’s name until December 31st, 2023′.
With the All Elite Wrestling vowing to fulfill their previous promise of a Jon Moxley booking for OTT before his flight value expiration on the 31st of December, and with AEW looking to sell out Wembley Stadium at their upcoming All-In show – European based wrestling fans will be keeping a very close eye on this situation, and if the North American promotion will make good on their previous promise.
