Heavyweight Title Shot In Sergei’s Future?
Sergei Pavlovich is a very exciting heavyweight competitor in the UFC.
Recently TKO/KO’ing Curtis Blaydes, Pavlovich has already picked up four “Performance of the Night” bonuses for his victories.
One of which was against Blaydes and another was against another exciting heavyweight, Tai Tuivasa.
Let’s talk about the heavyweight title picture.
Realistically, unless Ciryl Gane gets a rematch or Francis N’Gannou makes a miraculous return, the new heavyweight champion (Jon Jones) doesn’t have any exciting match-ups lined up.
That’s not a knock on Stipe Miocic, there just doesn’t seem to be many people asking for the former champion to have a fight with Jones.
However, based on what people within the UFC have said, Miocic is likely getting the next shot for the heavyweight title.
With a record of 18-1, Sergei Pavlovich feels like an exciting opponent for Jones, for both casual and hardcore MMA fans.
He offers a strong stand-up performance along with a decent defence.
It wouldn’t be very likely that Pavlovich vs Jones will feature on a 2023 poster but to feature on a 2024 one would certainly not feel out of place or undeserved.
