NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell Resigns Following An Investigation Into An Inappropriate Relationship
Jeff Shell is resigning.
Following an investigation into an unethical professional relationship, Comcast announced that NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell will resign from the company.
PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Comcast today announced that the Company and Jeff Shell, Chief Executive Officer of NBCUniversal, have mutually agreed that Mr. Shell will depart effective immediately following the Company’s investigation led by outside counsel into a complaint of inappropriate conduct.
Mr. Shell said, “Today is my last day as CEO of NBCUniversal. I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, which I deeply regret. I’m truly sorry I let my Comcast and NBCUniversal colleagues down, they are the most talented people in the business and the opportunity to work with them the last 19 years has been a privilege.”

WWE has a media partnership with NBCU, with WWE Raw and NXT airing on USA Network. WWE’s live and archived content can be viewed on Peacock.
Shell earlier described WWE as “perfect” for Peacock. It is unclear whether Shell’s departure will have an impact on WWE’s situation or negotiations with NBCU.
WWE will negotiate its next round of media rights in the coming months, as contracts with NBCU and Fox expire in 2024.
