Both competitors came to the ring to positive reactions, but the obvious favorite for the crowd was the hometown girl. Zelina came to the ring in an incredible entrance gear that reflected her Puerto Rican heritage.
The match was a cat and mouse game, with Zelina attempting to use her speed to escape Rhea Ripley’s vicious power. At one point, we got the Riptide into a DDT counter we’d see, with Vega hitting a 619 and a meteora to the champ for a near fall. This flurry would be it for Vega as after a vicious kick and an even more vicious Riptide, Rhea Ripley would end up the victor.
After the match, Zelina got a moment in front of the crowd as they cheered and applauded her despite her loss in a highly emotional moment.
