WWE Did Not Care About Brock Lesnar’s Failed UFC Drug Test
In 2016, Brock Lesnar returned to the UFC for a bout with Mark Hunt. Lesnar would end up winning the fight, but would fail a drug test following the event and the fight result was overturned.
With this failed drug test, Brock faced a suspension as well as a heavy fine for the incident. However, WWE did not punish him for the same drug test failure.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted WWE’s reaction at the time to the drug test and simply put, WWE just did not care.
Brock Lesnar did UFC, was an active wrestler — Billy Gunn wasn’t even an active wrestler — and Brock tested positive, it wasn’t for steroids, but he failed a drug test, and the response from WWE is that the drug test doesn’t apply to Brock Lesnar. This amazed me, because I asked, I was like, ‘hey, Brock just failed a test, you know and in commission states, in theory, he should be suspended from commision states that regulate wrestling, because that’s the rules.’
Dave Meltzer
Lesnar is currently involved in a rivalry with Cody Rhodes that will continue into the Night Of Champions Premium Live Event later this month.
