New York Proposes New Bill For Review Of Pro Wrestling Regulation In The State
A new bill has been introduced in New York state would require that State athletic commission to review the need for regulation of professional wrestling.
Although not yet voted on, Senate Bill S5953 would enforce the State athletic commission to review the need for regulation and licensing of pro wrestling in New York.
This was introduced by Senator Tim Kennedy on March 23, 2023, the bill proposes that the athletic commission examine the regulation of pro wrestling in other states and consult with “professional wrestling participants, and other stakeholders and entities who may assist in identifying areas of concern regarding the safety of professional wrestlers and its spectators.”
According to the bill, the commission would have to submit a report for detailing its findings by 11/1/23, and the act would take effect immediately and expire in July 2024.
