Nick Aldis Compares Wife Mickie James To “Caged Lioness” While Recovering From Rib Injury
Mickie James had to relinquish her IMPACT Knockouts Title back on Thursday, April 13, after a rib injury prevented her from defending it at the upcoming IMPACT Rebellion Pay Per View, which set up a bout between Jordynne Grace & Deonna Purrazzo for the vacant Knockouts World Title.
Since Mickie had to step away, her husband – Nick Aldis – has come back into IMPACT and is gunning for the World Title.
Aldis recently appeared on “Busted Open Radio” and described how James feels while waiting to return.
“First of all, there’s not a whole lot that I can tell her, right,” Aldis said. “She’s an O.G. and a first-ballot Hall of Famer whenever that time comes… You know her, she’s an alpha and she takes a lot of pride in what she does. So she’s pretty ticked off that she’s having to sit around and wait. She’s like a caged lioness right now, so every now and then I say the wrong thing and I get a little bit of a swipe across my nose, but I’m used to that by now.”
Aldis added that they benefit from sharing the same industry as they are a sounding board for each other. At the same time, they also have to work on separating their personal lives from work. Later, Aldis explained how having a lot of respect for each other professionally strengthened their marriage and provided the example of how he was trying to help reestablish the NWA while James was on the road with WWE.

Mickie returned to IMPACT Wrestling when she got released in 2021, while Nick was still helping establish NWA. Mickie returned to WWE with the IMPACT Knockouts Title in 2022 for the Women’s Royal Rumble, but has not been back since then. Once Nick was a free agent at the end of 2022, it was only a matter of time until he made his way back as well.
Mickie has been healing up and hopefully getting ready for a return. Since Deonna Purrazzo has never beaten Mickie for the Knockouts Title and Mickie will surely look to go after the title once she’s healed up, the next few months should be interesting as IMPACT is on the road to Slammiversary now, which will be held Saturday July 15th from St Clair’s College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
We know Mickie will be watching the Knockouts Division closely – especially with the addition of Trinity and her also wanting to go after the Knockouts World Title.
Nick Aldis recently defeated Sheldon Jean in his return match with the company, and that brought Kenny King into the fold. Aldis is scheduled to wrestle King next Friday 5/26 at the LIVE Under Siege event.
