Confirmation That Mercedes Mone Was Set To Win NJPW STRONG Women’s Title Before Injury
Mercedes Mone suffered a broken ankle last week on a night she was scheduled to become NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.
In the finals of a mini tournament at NJPW Resurgence, Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale battled it out for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. However, disaster struck when Mone suffered a broken ankle.
Fightul Select now have confirmed that the match was cut short and the finish was changed due to the injury.
Mercedes Mone was actually scheduled to win the NJPW Strong title match, but the audible was called after her injury. There were several minutes cut from the match.

There is still very little known about Mone’s injury, outside the reports of a broken ankle. We will have to wait and see how long Mercedes will end up on the shelf for
Willow on the other hand is now the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion and we will have to wait and see how long she holds that title.
