WWE Are Considering Gunther Breaking Honky Tonk Man’s Intercontinental Championship Record
WWE are considering a change when it comes to records in the company, in particular the longest Intercontinental Championship reign.
Gunther has been champion for around a year now, and does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. He most recently defeated Mustafa Ali at Night Of Champions 2023 last weekend.
WRKD Wrestling now reports that with Gunther nearing the record breaking reign of The Honky Tonk Man’s record, discussions have been had about The Ring General holding the title until he breaks the record.
Roman Reigns isn’t the only superstar inching closer to history. We’ve learned that there are internal talks for Gunther to pass Honky Tonk Man’s all time historic Intercontinental championship reign. He’d officially break the record on September 6th.

We will have to wait and see how much longer Gunther will hold the WWE Intercontinental Championship for, but it does not seem he will be losing the title anytime soon.
