The Ring General has passed over a year as WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The Intercontinental Championship has been lifted to new heights over the past year on the shoulder of Gunther as it has began to recover its prestige from years of mis booking. Throughout his reign, Gunther has defended against some of the top names in WWE, including several former World Champions.
He had previously already broken the record for the longest-running champion of the 21st century. Gunther posted a tweet to mark the occasion.
Gunther will become the longest reigning champion on September 8, 2023, should he hold the title until that date.
