A surprising name is backstage at tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
Fightful Select have now reported that IMPACT Wrestling’s Jimmy Jacobs is backstage at tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
Fightful Select has learned that longtime wrestler-turned-creative writer Jimmy Jacobs is backstage at AEW Dynamite today in Washington, DC. We’re told Jacobs was a surprise face popping up, and exchanged hugs and pleasantries with numerous people at the show. It was hinted to Fightful, but not outright confirmed that Jacobs would be helping out with creative as All Elite Wrestling has expanded with Collision debuting Saturday. Bryan Danielson has also been brought on to help, in addition to the hiring of Will Washington. Jacobs has been working for IMPACT Wrestling since November 2017, where he’s been an integral part of the creative team ever since. We haven’t learned how this would affect his duties there, or if he remains with the company, but he appeared on a video on their official Twitter as recently as today. Jacobs worked for WWE as a creative writer between March 2015 and October 2017. He was fired for taking a photo with members of the Bullet Club who did an “invasion” outside of Raw.

Since Fightful’s report, The Wrestling Observer have confirmed that Jacobs is now working with the company as a producer.
With BJ Whitmer being terminated recently due to domestic violence, there is a new spot in AEW’s list of producers, and it appears AEW have decided to go with Jimmy Jacobs.
