Jon Moxley vs. El Desperado “Final Death” Match Set For July 5th

At the June 17th NJPW New Japan Road show, Jon Moxley appeared via video to challenge El Desperado to a “Final Death” match at the July 5th NJPW STRONG Independence Day event. Moxley indicated that the “Final Death” match with have no winner, only a survivor.

El Desperado was quick to accept the challenge as he made this statement:

Sounds good. July 5, the second night for #njpwSTRONG in Korakuen, a singles match with Moxley? When it’s time for him to show up he shows, when it’s time for him to speak he speaks. That’s why I love Mox. He said ‘Final Death?’ That sounds like anything goes to me. I’ll take it!

Moxley and El Desperado had a brutal singles match back on July 30th 2022 in which Moxley won due to referee stoppage. Fans can expect their July 5th “Final Death” match to be just as or even more brutal than their first encounter.

In addition, Jun Kasai has agreed to be El Desperado’s partner on July 4th as the two will face the team of Jon Moxley and Homicide on Night 1 of NJPW STRONG Independence Day. Jun Kasai had to get the assurance from Desperado that the rules of the match had to be right for him before agreeing to be his partner.

From Jun Kasai:

But Despe, if I’m to step into a NJPW ring, it has to be with the right rules. I’ll be happy to be your partner, but I came here to make NJPW history.

El Desperado’s response:

Deathmatches in NJPW.. there might be a bit of resistance, like there’s been to me on Twitter, but I’ll do what I can to do right by you.
