MJF and Hiroshi Tanahashi would have an incredible matchup as expected at Forbidden Door.
Early on the match, MJF would begin to leave but was brought back by a coward chant. However, in the end, he would return and have a classic with Tanahashi. Some highlights in the early stages were MJF heeling it up, only for the referee to be unimpressed with his cheating.
The middle of the match featured a lot of MJF talking down to Tanahashi with the NJPW legend firing back with offense rallying off the crowds support. Eventually he would go for his title, with the ref seeing it coming leading to Tanahashi getting a 3 or 7 count with the refs back turned.
This would lead to MJF nailing Tanahashi with his Dynamite Diamond Ring for the three count, defeating The Ace.
