After Adam Cole’s illness forced him out of a match with Tom Lawlor, AEW thought about pivoting.
Yesterday, as we ticked closer to Forbidden Door, AEW president Tony Khan announced that Adam Cole had come down with an illness and would miss the show.
This lead “Filthy” Tom Lawlor to be removed from the card also. Fightful Select reports that Lawlor almost found himself on the show regardless.
There was consideration of having Tom Lawlor face someone else on Forbidden Door but it didn’t end up happening.

Lawlor would still compete in a dark match, defeating Serpentico.
Tony Khan would state that he hopes to see Tom back in AEW in the future.
