AEW Dynamite: 6/28/2023 Preview
Lighting the fuse from the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, AEW continues its Canada tour. There are promo segments, singles matches, and a Tornado Tag Team match, not to mention the Owen Hart Cup Tournament continues. With the end of Forbidden Door behind us, let’s get a look at the future ahead!
Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, & Angelo Parker vs Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, & El Hijo del Vikingo
Continuing the story of Daniel Garcia’s rivalry with Orange Cassidy, this trios match sees them bring their friends into it. JAS mates and wrestle-dads, Parker and Menard return to the ring for Garcia, while the Freshly Squeezed Champion Cassidy has backup in form of the loquacious and formidable Keith Lee and the gravity-defying Vikingo in what’s sure to be an entertaining bout.
Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament – Quarterfinals: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Ruby Soho:
The Runaway Outcast punk rocker in emerald hair takes on AEW’s residential dentist on the road to count the winner of the women’s quarterfinal bracket. With the story continuing between AEW’s homegrown stars and those cast away from the land of sports entertainment, hopefully the end is on the horizon. Please.
Tornado Tag Team Match: Sting & Darby Allin vs. “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara:
The distance growing between Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho continues to widen, as they take on the ever so connected Sting and Darby Allin. Neither team has their NJPW friends by their side – only grudges remain. With Jericho re-connecting with his Painmaker persona, this leaves Sammy the only one without face paint. He doesn’t need to paint his face, he’s about to be a dad. He should be grilling. Let him grill, Jericho.
We’ll Hear From “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry:
Beverly Hills’ Dylan’s son, Jack Perry should be ashamed of himself for turning on HOOK. It’s understandable that he is frustrated at all of his failings to reach the top, because he doesn’t want to wait for his life to be over; he wants to know right now what it will be. But you don’t turn on your friend, and the FTW Champion is likely ready to wreck Jungle Boy’s body. I anticipate Taz’s emotions bursting on commentary, should he sit at the table.
We’lll Hear from Adam Cole and MJF:
The odd couple that is taking part in the Blind Eliminator Tournament for the AEW Tag Team Championship has been a fun one to watch, but with Cole having missed Forbidden Door due to a flu, however their story pans out is in the air. However, I love that they’re just so similar to one another, no matter where on the morality scale, they hate each other for it.
Jon Moxley vs Tomohiro Ishii
Their first match on the 2019 G1 Climax and any subsequent time in the ring has been a proven success, so to see the Death Rider Moxley face off against the Stone Pitbull Ishii will undoubtedly be a lot of fun as a lingering part of the Forbidden Door remains open as it shines through the crack in the doorway.
A small card, meaning some segments or matches might run long, some unannounced happenings, or some mysterious third thing. Tune in tonight to find out!
