Gunther would defend the Intercontinental Championship at Money In The Bank facing off with Matt Riddle.
In the early stages, Gunther would fire off some of his lethal shots, with Riddle looking for submissions, landing strikes of his own.
The match would be back and forth at a lot of times, with Gunther landing much of his explosive moveset after Riddle would sell his injured ankle.
While Riddle would continue to fight, eventually after brutal chops to Riddle’s injured ankle, Gunther would lock in an ankle lock to get the win.
However, while Gunther would celebrate, a familiar music hit as Drew McIntyre made his return to confront the Intercontinental Champion. McIntyre would land a Glasgow Kiss before hitting a Claymore and holding the Intercontinental Title high.
