Money in the Bank 2023 Preview
Live in London, England’s O2 Arena comes WWE’s Money in the Bank event! Drama, sport, and opportunity await at the home of Big Ben and I could not be more excited. Let’s have a rundown of the card, shall we?
Ricochet vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs LA Knight vs Santos Escobar vs Butch vs Damian Priest vs Logan Paul (Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match)
Chance favors the bold who seek the privilege to wear the gold. No one in this match is a former world champion, but each competitor has the world to gain. A briefcase that could see them change the trajectory of their career. The favorites to win that I’ve seen has been Shinsuke Nakamura, LA Knight, and Damian Priest, and I could see the vision with each of those (particularly Knight), but I have a horrible gut feeling it could be wasted on Logan Paul unless Triple H gets his way, giving this moment to someone who has earned it.
Zelina Vega vs Becky Lynch vs Zoey Stark vs Bayley vs Iyo Sky vs Trish Stratus
Two women on an island of their own in Zelina Vega and Becky Lynch stand toe to toe against the likes of Damage CTRL’s Bayley and Iyo Sky and the alliance of Zoey Stark and legendary Trish Stratus, weaving several stories and allegiances together. Betrayals are bound to happen, and the women will go insane just to seize the moment and make their own history.
Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio (w/Rhea Ripley)
As the complacent champion Rhea Ripley stands by Mysterio’s side, the still-injured Cody Rhodes will have to overcome the odds, knowing Judgement Day plays dirty and knowing that Brock Lesnar still has a win over him. The American Nightmare has to fight through this and get back on track to finishing his story. Just a few more adversities, as a treat.
Seth Rollins (c) vs Finn Bálor (World Heavyweight Championship Match)
SummerSlam 2016, where this all began. The newly unveiled Universal Championship that Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor fought to compete for, the match that injured Bálor and took him from the destiny he was supposed to have. The years he’s spent trying to claw his way back to a main event scene that was stripped from him rests on the shoulders of the man who caused that very injury. Vengeful and spiteful, the purple Irishman has to unleash hell, or fall to the Visionary.
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa) vs The Usos (Bloodline Civil War)
Not even Dominic Toretto from The Fast and the Furious film series could save this family. Roman Reigns has been an abusive, manipulative narcissist and Solo Sikoa is the stoic family guardian. The only thing that stands in their way are their once-allies, Jimmy and Jey Uso, who are human and have had enough of Roman’s bullying. This time, it’s settled. This time, The Usos fight for the honor of a family who is having it removed after each month of no wrestling and hollow victories.
Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler (c) vs Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)
The MMA tag team of Rousey and Baszler takes on the former champs in Morgan and Rodriguez. The fresher tag team may have the new advantage over Ronda and Shayna, but they are tough women.
Gunther (c) vs Matt Riddle (Intercontinental Championship)
Gunther is getting closer and closer to cementing his legacy in WWE with his historic title reign, inching nearer to dethroning The Honky-Tonk Man’s company record. That’s likely to be the case here, as Imperium’s Ring General continues his due dominance.
