Billy Corgan: I’m Kind Of NWA’s Biggest Heel, But I Won’t Make It Into Every Other Company
Billy Corgan explains why he could be considered the NWA’s biggest heel.
Since acquiring the National Wrestling Alliance in 2017, Corgan has built the company according to his vision. The NWA, like many other promotions nowadays, receives some online criticism, and Corgan is frequently the focus.
Corgan was asked on Good Karma Wrestling with Jonathan Hood and Brian Rowitz whether the NWA has anyone who can embrace being a heel in the age of social media. Corgan stated that the NWA is filled with “tough hombres and ladies.” He then remarked that, in some ways, he is the company’s worst villain since he will not transform it into every other company.
“Oh yeah, we got a lot of tough hombres and ladies in there. I don’t think we go out of our way to court controversy, but I also think we’re very proud of who we are, and not everybody agrees, but that’s the modern wrestling fan. Part of being a modern wrestling fan is getting on social media and voicing your opinion, which is totally fine. I just draw the line on where the fans book the promotion. I’m not a fan of the fans booking the card or the promotion. I think, at the end of the day, in that way, I’m probably the biggest heel in the NWA because I just won’t turn the NWA into every other wrestling company that’s out there,”

Corgan also mentioned in the same interview that the NWA will be releasing TV/streaming news that will surprise some people.
