With the New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 33 set to kick off on July 15th, the professional wrestling world is buzzing on who will come out as the winner in this years field of 32 participants. With 4 blocks broken into 8 wrestlers, the top two competitors of each block will move onto the quarterfinals which will be followed by the semifinals and then finals.
Pro wrestling legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger spoke with Tokyo Sports to weigh in and give his predictions for the G1 Climax 33 Tournament.
Here are Jushin Liger’s G1 Climax 33 predictions:
- A Block – 1st Place: Hikuleo, 2nd Place: SANADA
- B Block – 1st Place: Kazuchka Okada, 2nd Place: Great-O-Khan
- C Block – 1st Place: Tama Tonga, 2nd Place: EVIL
- D Block- 1st Place: Jeff Cobb, 2nd Place: Toru Yano
- Quarterfinals – Hikuleo (1st place in A Block) vs. EVIL (2nd place in C Block) Winner: EVIL
- Quarterfinals – Kazuchika Okada (1st place in B Block) vs. Yano (2nd place in D Block) Winner: Toru Yano
- Quarterfinals – Tama Tonga (1st place in C Block) vs. Great-O-Khan (2nd place in B Block) Winner: Great-O-Khan
- Quarterfinals – Jeff Cobb (1st place in D Block) vs. SANADA (2nd place in A Block) Winner: SANADA
- Semifinals – EVIL vs. Toru Yano – Winner: Toru Yano
- Semifinals – Great-O-Khan vs. SANADA – Winner: Great-O-Khan
- Finals – Great-O-Khan vs. Toru Yano – Winner: Great-O-Khan
Jushin “Thunder” Liger predicts Great-O-Khan will be the winner of G1 Climax 33 ad head to Wrestle Kingdom 18 to challenge SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
