Rey Mysterio seems to have suffered a legitimate injury on Friday Night SmackDown.
During SmackDown, the finals of the US Title number 1 contender tournament took place, with Santos Escobar battling Rey Mysterio. After a brief lucha libre opening few spots, Santos would hit a dive to the outside on Mysterio, with a clash of heads resulting in Rey having a nasty fall to the mat, clearly hitting the back of his head hard. After this, the show would head to commercial.
Immediately following the commercial break, it was clear Mysterio was injured and the match was called then and there with no further wrestling from the two men after the incident, suggesting Rey may have been placed into concussion protocol.
We will provide any further updates on Mysterio’s condition as the news breaks.
