Lio talks about the X Division title and what it means to him…right after talking about using Option C on a recent IMPACT episode, which would see Lio relinquish that title and go after the World Title.

Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Lio was asked what it means to hold the title. 

“It feels appropriate. It feels great. It feels amazing. This belt is historic. When I look at this, I look at IMPACT as…this is IMPACT. This is the World Title, to me. This big red X. I’m holding it with pride. It feels appropriate. I feel like I’ve helped influence this generation of wrestlers just like the X Division title has helped influence my generation and so many other generations,” he said. 

Lio said his reaction was “oh shit” when the referee counted three and then expanded upon his reaction by saying, “I knew from that point on things were going to change and things were going to elevate. I knew that it was officially my time. I’m holding this title, and I’m going to do a lot of great things with it.”

Lio Rush first showed up in IMPACT Wrestling on the 6/29 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV when he defeated Jack Price in his first official match in an IMPACT ring. Later on in the same show, Lio made a huge statement when he attacked Chris Sabin in the ring – blindsiding him – and then laying Sabin out with his own X Division Title belt to the face.

Rush would team up with Nick Aldis the following week for the 7/6 episode. The match would end with Rush nailing Sabin with his FINAL HOUR finished off the top rope and then gaining the pinfall for his team.

Rush ended up defeating Chris Sabin at Slammiversary for the IMPACT X Division Title. Rush’s first opponent will be Kushida, who happen to win the Ultimate X match at Slammiversary, which guarantees him an X Division title shot.

Lio was made to pick a side this past Thursday for the IMPACTonAXSTV episode when he was confronted by Bully Ray, Moose, & Brian Myers. He sided with those guys in a beatdown of Josh Alexander, Alex Shelley, & Kushida.
