Sheamus Says WWE Wasted His Organic Momentum After His Classic With Gunther At Clash At The Castle
Sheamus feels WWE dropped the ball with regards to his booking post WWE Clash At The Castle last year.
At the event in Wales, the Intercontinental Championship was on the line as Gunther and Sheamus went one on one in front of a stadium full of WWE fans. The match was a knock down drag’em out brawl which was praised by even WWE’s biggest detractors. In the end, Gunther would defeat Sheamus and retain his title, a championship he holds to this day.
While speaking with the Daily Star, Sheamus believes WWE could have handled his momentum better last year in the aftermath of the, as Sheamus would call it, banger.
“I’m not upset about that at all (losing to GUNTHER at WWE Clash at the Castle). I felt it was great, it was just the type of character Sheamus is, all fits and elbows. What I was upset about and what really bothered me was the creative after that. I came out of that with so much organic momentum, and it was just wasted. It didn’t go anywhere. It was a dead end, just like with WrestleMania. Drew (McIntyre) went away because he was injured, but I was ready to go and then just nothing. There were no avenues and nowhere to go and that’s frustrating. I did the WarGames thing but that was s*** – that’s how I felt, though others might have felt differently.”

Sheamus is currently scheduled to take part in the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal on Saturday but before that, he will go one on one with the Mega Star, LA Knight on Friday’s SmackDown.
