Tag Team Tournament
—ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs Sami Callihan & Rich Swann
Rich Swann & Sami Callihan win after The Good Hands interfere and leave Ace Austin waning in the ring, for Sami to take advantage of and score the victory with a Cactus Driver 97.
My thoughts: This was a really good match that ended much differently thenI thought it would. Glad to see the Good Hands involving themselves in a story.
Santino Marella is backstage by himself when he is approached by The Coven, who say they should get their contractual rematch at Emergence. The Death Dollz say that they’re awesome and former Knockouts Tag Team champions as well. Gisele Shaw defeated Masha Slamovich last week. Killer Kelly and Masha walk up and say they’ll take them all on. Moments later, the match is made official.
-Dango vs Bhupinder Gujjar
Dango wins after Gujjar goes to the top rope and Alpha Bravo shines a flashlight In his eyes.
Jake Something comes out after the match and confronts Dango. Jake says if he hates wrestling so much he should leave, or Jake will make him leave. Dango leaves the ring, Bravo steps up to Jake and gets in his face. Dango tries to get back into the ring and ambush Something, but Jake sees him coming and lays out Dango.
My thoughts: The match itself ended it typical heel fashion, but it’s great to see Jake Something involved in a story.
We go backstage to Big Kon and Deaner backstage talking about Eric Young. Kon says Young is the sheep who lost his family, and Kon is the big bad wolf. ”We know how this ends.”
Gia Miller catches up with Johnny Swinger backstage. Swinger starts talking about his World Title shot. He’s interrupted by Kenny King, who says he’s champion of the universe, and then leaves.
–Alisha Edwards vs Jody Threat
Jody Threat wins. Eddie Edwards used a kendo stick to trip Jody while Alisha distracted the referee. Frankie Kazarian pulled Eddie down from the ring apron and laid him out. Frankie was about to nail Eddie with a kendo stick, but when he lifted it up he accidentally hit Alisha in the head with it.
Deonna congratulates tells KiLynn King for beating her last week but says she won’t beat her again. Deonna says she’ll take on King next week, and Trinity better be watching.
-Mike Bailey vs Kushida
Kushida wins with a Small Package Driver after a phenomenal match from both competitiors.
My thoughts: Match of the night. Maybe match of the year.
We go backstage to Crazzy Steve in a sit down interview with Tom Hannifan. Steve says this will go on for the next few weeks, but right now he feels abandoned by everybody. Says he’ll talk about his family next week.
We get a SUBCULTURE video where they say that they’ll be watching the finals of the tag team tournament next week to see who wins and who they’ll have to prepare for at Emergence.
Yuya is backstage with Joe Hendry. Yuya suggests they should be a tag team and go after the titles.
Tom Hannifan does a rundown of matches for next week, as well as a new match for the IMPACTxNJPW Multiverse United 2 event on 8/20.
——-MAIN EVENT——-
Lio Rush beats down Samuray Del Sol before he can make his way out to the ramp.
-Bully Ray/Moose/Myers vs Laredo Kid/Black Taurus
There was a spot where the referee was down and out. Myers, moose, and Ray all beat down Laredo Kid and Ray tried to rip his mask off. Suddenly, the lights go out and lightening bolts fills the video screen. When the lights go back on, PCO is standing in the ring. Bully Ray is stunned. PCO chases Bully out of the ring.
Brian Myers and Moose win the match for their team.
Bully Ray flees to the back of the venue and runs out to an alley. He sees a vehicle sitting out there with somebody in it. He rips the driver off and speeds away as PCO approached the vehicle.
My thoughts: Good match, great to see PCO return and scare Bully Ray off. IMPACT needs to find something to do with the luchadors other then losing all the time.
