Matt Hardy Believes Shelton Benjamin Would Be A Huge Star If He Was Just Starting Now

Matt Hardy puts heavy praise on Shelton Benjamin.

Shelton Benjamin was a man ahead of his time in the mid 2000s, as he would make a big splash in the company due to his natural ability in the ring and sheer athleticism. Benjamin would hold multiple championships during his first run with the promotion, returning to the company in the late 2010s and has remained a member of the active roster despite making limited appearances.

One man who knows Benjamin all to well is Matt Hardy, who faced off with Shelton in tag team action several times during their careers.

Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy said that Benjamin would be a huge star if he were only starting his wrestling career now.

“I mean yeah, he had a good run but if he would have came later, if he would have came now where you aren’t necessarily pegged into being a guy that might not the best promo or the best character or the best personality, just nowadays people can be just based purely on their athletic skill and what they can do in the ring and I think Shelton, he’d be a huge star right now, especially if he was just starting out,”

Benjamin last competed on the June 19th episode of Monday Night RAW and it is unclear when he will return to WWE TV.
