Hikaru Shida puts over Kenny Omega’s assistance in the growth of Joshi wrestling.
Lots of talent, especially from Japan, come over to AEW and the states for appearances and shows, and they don’t speak English. Sadly, some online fans harass them and talk down on the foreign talent, bashing them on social media. Kenny Omega has publicly defended these talents, especially Joshi talent from Japan.
Speaking with Digital Spy’s Stephanie Chase, Shida praised Kenny Omega for helping bring Joshi talents into the mainstream.
“I think he worked especially for Joshi because he wrestled in Japan, and he knows how Joshi is good,” she said. “I always say that Japanese Joshi wrestling is the best in the world, and he helped so much to show that to the world. Also, he can speak Japanese. So he helped so much [with] language, too.”

Shida dethroned Toni Storm during AEW Dynamite 200 on August 2nd marking the second time she would call herself the world champion of All Elite Wrestling.
Shida is set to defend her title in a fatal four way match at All In that also features Storm and Saraya, with a final qualifier happening on this week’s AEW Dynamite.
