Sami Callihan Calls Deonna Purrazzo “One Of The Best Technical Wrestlers On The Planet”
Sami Callihan thinks the term ”intergender wrestling” should be removed from the business standards. Everybody is part of professional wrestling, after all.
Speaking with Women’s Wrestling Talk, Callihan called Purrazzo one of the best technical wrestlers in the world, regardless of gender.
“You want to talk about one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. Deonna Purrazzo has to be up there, male or female. Any ethnicity, any way of life, Deonna Purrazzo – when it comes down to pound-for-pound for professional wrestlers, is one of the best technical wrestlers on the planet. Like I say that all the time.”
Once known for a feud with Tessa Blanchard over the IMPACT World Title, Callihan again says that he believes intergender wrestling should just be called professional wrestling and there shouldn’t be so much focus on gender.
“Look, I’ve said this many times, many interviews before. I don’t even think you should be called intergender wrestling at this point. There’s just professional wrestling. You look at Marvel, you look at DC, you look at all these different things and pop culture, and that’s extremely relevant right now, and when you see Black Widow fighting the Incredible Hulk or Miss Marvel fighting Loki or whoever I know that’s not the people they fight but you get the explanation. Like it’s not called intergender fighting in the superhero realm, and I think professional wrestling is the exact same thing. I think it should just be called professional wrestling at this point.”

Deonna became a 3x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion when she defeated Jordynne Grace for the vacant title at Rebellion in April. She held that title for another 3 months until losing it to Trinity at Slammiversary in an epic battle, and the very first time Deonna has ever tapped out inside of an IMPACT ring.
Deonna called out Trinity shortly after Slammiversary to make it known that she would be invoking her contractual rematch at the LIVE Emergence event on August 27th in Toronto, Canada.
Deonna just competed against one of the best female talents in the world when she competed in the Multiverse United 2 for the NJPW Strong Women’s Title against Stardom talents Giulia & Momo Kohgo, as well as fellow IMPACT Knockout Gisele Shaw. Shaw took the pin by Giulia, who retained the title.
Deonna has the potential to become a 4x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion, and with that, continue her quest to unseat TNA/IMPACT Legend and Hall of Famer Gail Kim as the longest reigning Knockouts World Champion in history. Gail sits at 702 days.
Can Deonna complete this quest?
Only time will tell, but we sure hope so.
