Satoshi Kojima On Being In AJPW Royal Road Semifinals: I Am Representing Men In Their 50’s
On August 27th, All Japan Pro-Wrestling will hold the final night of the Royal Road 2023 with two semifinal matches and then the one final match to determine the winner of the tournament.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling legend Satoshi Kojima, who is 52 years old, is one of the four wrestlers in the semifinals with an opportunity to win the Royal Road 2023 and earn a shot at AJPW Triple Crown Championship held by Yuma Aoyagi. Kojima has a tough task ahead of him as he faces Shuji Ishikawa in a semifinal match up.
Tokyo Sports recently spoke with Kojima about his upcoming semifinal match at Royal Road 2023 against Shuji Ishikawa:
I think I am lucky that I have been able to appear in various organizations since last year. But luck won’t help you in this tournament, it’s my ability to make the most of the encounters, and I think the challenge going forward is how to get through this, so I’ll do my best. I think it will be difficult to capture if he (Ishikawa) is that big. No matter who comes, Satoshi Kojima’s professional wrestling will not change, and there is no way to change it, and we have seen his unchanged appearance and assertiveness for 32 years. Because that’s the belief. That’s what I’m going to keep doing. I think I’m representing men in their 50s across the country Japan.
Satoshi Kojima defeated Rei Saito and Takuya Nomura to advance to the semifinals of the AJPW Royal Road Tournament. Ryuki Honda, Suwama and Shuji Ishikawa have also made it to the semifinals scheduled for August 27th at the Aichi-Nagoya Congress Center.
