AEW All In London Preview

‘Ello, guv’nah! Bit of a right old day for the graps, isn’t it? Right you are, me cheeky bum, AEW is paying a kind visit to the Wembley Stadium, they are! Blimey, there’s matches aplenty on what’s sure to be a mollywhopper of a card… History is in the making, folks so without further adieu, let’s dig in, shall we?

PRE-SHOW

Aussie Open (c) vs MJF & Adam Cole (ROH World Tag Team Championship)

Credit: AEW

After failing to gain the ten pounds of gold off of FTR, Adam Cole and his mate MJF open the show in the hopes that they’ll strip the Aussies of their treasure. That is naught to be, for Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis’s chemistry from day one is sure to pull the current to their favour. Surely, this will be a catalyst in what’s to play in the main event betwixt the challengers!

Jack Perry (c) vs HOOK (FTW Championship)

Jack Perry’s being quite the nonce, isn’t he? A true c*nt if I’ve ever seen one (and I’ve seen quite a few, I have). Not only is the FTW Championship for renegades who are neglected the top spots that they deserve, it has ties to young HOOK’s blood, for his father Taz initiated it in the mid to late 1990s, and it has historical significance. This could go any which way, honestly.

MAIN CARD

FTR (c) vs The Young Bucks (AEW World Tag Team Championship)

Credit: AEW

The rubber match. The dream match since before FTR left WWE, maybe before The Young Bucks left ROH and NJPW. I couldn’t be arsed to look it up, so bugger off my back, yeah? Anywhoo, despite the serious goings-on beyond the squared circle, this looks like a jolly entry into the epic trilogy in what’s been a great two years for both teams who have revolutionized tag team wrestling, no matter how you shake it. Regardless of which tribe you insist on dying for, we all know this will be a proper battle guaranteed to make a giddy European crowd elate with sheer ecstasy. The hype is through the roof!

Hikaru Shida (c) vs Toni Storm vs Saraya vs Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (AEW Women’s World Championship)

Tragically the only women’s match on the card when there are several hungry ladies that would have cherished this opportunity. Fortunately, they’ve made their own moments on the independent scene within the UK area. Truly, we must do better here. However, that isn’t to say this match doesn’t share its riches of importance. With Saraya having a new a shake to her career, Britt Baker’s drawing power, Toni Storm’s character work, and lastly Hikaru Shida’s heart and in-ring prowess, this match has everything for everyone, and they’ll fight their arses off to prove why lasses absolutely deserve a place on the card.

Darby Allin & Sting vs Swerve Strickland & Christian Cage (Coffin Match)

Credit: AEW

Two legends and two young lads. Doesn’t get any better than this, yeah? Picture it – the gothic skateboarder Darby and the hip-hop and uniquely styled Swerve amid warriors of the Monday Night Wars and days of TNA past. Sting’s adopted his Joker persona whilst Cage has developed a disdain for deceased patriarchs. All of this while a blood feud boils within the organs of Darby Allin and Swerve Strickland. The goal here is that one team must be buried away in a coffin. Christian Cage has already been buried before, but will he find his mortal coil entombed once more?

The Golden Elite vs Konosuke Takeshita & Bullet Club Gold

The Golden Lovers reunite once more, with “Hangman” Adam Page by their side. Savour this, for we might not get moments like this again, chaps. In the other corner sits ghosts from The Golden Elite’s past in the form of DDT’s Konosuke Takeshita and Bullet Club’s Jay White. In essence, this is very much a Kenny Omega story, isn’t it? Former friends and allies aplenty. I imagine though that Juice Robinson will be up to his antics because after all, he does want Honey Combs. Should be a righteous affair.

Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Best Friends, & Penta El Zero Miedo vs Blackpool Combat Club & Santana and Ortiz (Stadium Stampede Match)

Credit: AEW

The Blackpool Combat Club has, assuredly, no shortage of enemies. Though the war with The Elite is quite finished, the Sons of Regal must contend with former ally Eddie Kingston, the lucha wrestler Penta, and the Best Friends trio. While the babyface squadron has many endearing characters, this is The Mad King’s war against former friend Jon Moxley and intense hatred for Claudio Castagnoli. Regrettably, Kingston’s former allies in Santana & Ortiz accompany the BCC – a byproduct of Kingston and House of Black’s feud earlier in the year. This will be explosive and intense and chaotic and potentially heartbreaking. Jazzed for this one, mates.

Will Ospreay vs Chris Jericho

Since Will Ospreay is Great Britain’s Captain America, it is only right for him to win. This will make him a champion that the esteemed country can be proud of. In trouncing Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega within a short stretch of time, dispatching the legend will be another notch in his belt. Not the IWGP UK belt, mind you. Jericho’s been everywhere, from NJPW to ECW to WCW to WWF/E to AEW, and to add this win on such a historic stage could make him an all-timer. Despite this, the fact that Jericho recreated the All In 2018 post-match this time at RevPro against the United Empire’s Billy Goat cements that the A-game will indubitably be brought.

CM Punk vs Samoa Joe (Real World Championship)

Credit: AEW

With MJF apparently being the False World Champion, one must wonder how this legacy feud will cap off the 2000s war. CM Punk’s recent win during the Owen Hart Cup over Joe hasn’t sat well with the Samoan heavy. To have closure on this storyline after all these years, it does my jolly heart good, it does. Let’s just hope no backstage shenanigans transpire, shall we? Hide the muffins and crumpets, I say.

House of Black vs Billy Gunn & The Acclaimed (AEW World Trios Championship)

Though they are undisputedly evil, The House of Black don’t appear as vile and dark and evil as Margaret Thatcher, but they will doubtlessly dominate The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. (Am I Britishing right?) However, this does appear to be the latter’s moment. Should the black and pink trio see their elder emerge to “Ass Man” for a nostalgia pop, I feel the match will swing heavily to their favour.

MJF (c) vs Adam Cole (AEW World Championship)

Credit: AEW

A main event that feels mighty insane to think about, and what a story heading into it. The connection and chemistry forged betwixt champion and challenger has been a rewarding one, and it’s impressive to have gotten the fanbase to care. Howsoever the duo come out of this match will be the topic for events and episodes to come. Regardless, it will end in bitter heartache in some fashion or another. Even if there is no hard feelings or dissolution, the tale woven hear will remain a quilt we shan’t be forgetting about anytime soon.

Folks, we are on the precipice of greatness. There’s something for everyone and on a massive card where everything has significance even if the build for some matches ill reflects that, this will be a show to remember, and a night that harkens back to why the originator of this pay per view event was so special in the first place.
