IMPACT Wrestling Could Be A Potential Landing Spot For CM Punk

CM Punk was fired from All Elite Wrestling this weekend.

That needs to sink in a bit, and once it does, Punk may decide to never wrestle again – his last match being at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000+ fans wouldn’t be a bad way to go out for good, if he chooses.

Pwinsider Elite is reporting that:

Among other promotions, we have heard that Impact Wrestling was super excited about the idea of Punk potentially working there but I don’t know that realistically, that would be a long-term option. No word yet whether the sides have had any conversations, or even if Punk is open to conversations yet about pro wrestling.

New Japan Pro Wrestling, due to their relationship with AEW and Tony Khan, would likely not be a destination for Punk.

It’s not expected that anyone else out there currently would have the financial means to hire Punk and that Punk likely isn’t going to work independents, unless it’s something he decided to do for fun.

There does not appear to be any sort of non-compete involved in Punk’s termination from AEW and where he goes next, if anywhere, remains to be seen. Stay tuned.

Last weekend at AEW All In, Punk was involved in yet another backstage altercation. However, this one would be different than those in the past in various ways. Namely, Punk not only fought with Jack Perry, he also reportedly lunged at AEW president Tony Khan while furiously quitting the company.

Punk and Perry were both suspended following this altercation, and then subsequently terminated, with cause, despite Punk’s drawing power.

Before all of the IMPACT Wrestling critics jump all over this ”IMPACT can’t afford him” bandwagon, Fightful reported back in 2019 that Anthem-owned IMPACT Wrestling offered Chris Jericho ”mid-seven figures” to come into the promotion, so they DO have the money if they choose to use it.

When I was starting to talk with Tony (Khan) and New Japan and Impact as well– Impact offered me a hell of a deal for a four match series. We’re talking mid-seven figures. They have some cash as well. When they believe in something, they have money for it,” said Jericho on a new edition of Wrestling Observer Radio

IMPACT Wrestling has their flagship Bound For Glory PPV in Chicago this year in mid-October.

Bodyslam will be keeping a close on the ”Punk watch”, and will update as it becomes available.
