AEW Collision: 9/16/2023 Preview
The Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Pennsylvania contains this episode of Collision that has quite a bit going on with it. Let’s collide, shall we?
FTR (c) vs Iron Savages (AEW World Tag Team Championship)
FTR has gained a huge name for themselves since signing to AEW, and in late 2021, that stock grew and grew until we got the boys we have now. With the pair allowing for these open challenges, newer, fresher tag teams can step up, providing amazing matchups that are bound to be awesome and elevate those who may need it, who struggle for time. That’s about as Collision as Collision gets.
The Hardys vs The Righteous
Jeff and Matt were attacked by Vincent and Dutch of The Righteous on the most recent episode of Rampage, seeing the Hardy legends lay crumpled upon the entrance ramp. After stealing Stu Grayson from the Dark Order, The Righteous are bound to send the veterans down a dark path – the only question is, can they handle that? Stare at the void all you want, but don’t jump when it stares back.
Andrade El Idolo vs Scorpio Sky
Two guys who were given a promise of more time on the roster are getting back on track (hopefully). Best case scenario: both talents find a story to drive on the show that will be nice and savory. Please don’t let these men fade on this roster.
Evil Uno vs Anthony Bowens
The Dark Order vs The Acclaimed on the surface seems like a funny feud on paper, but Mr. Brodie Lee’s pupils are falling into darkness now they’ve lost their friends. Evil Uno is no exception, and this underrated masked wrestler is bound to have a thriller with the in-ring ace of the scissoring squad.
Kris Statlander (c) vs Britt Baker (TBS Championship)
Now with the victory over the history-making Jade Cargill under her belt (and likely the last one to fight her on the AEW roster), Statlander takes on one of the promotion’s biggest stars. Britt’s a star, and that shan’t be forgotten, but Stat has fought so hard beyond just physical opponents, but her own body to get where she needs to be. She’ll fight with every ounce of her soul, even if it deprives the biggest homegrown star – especially if it deprives the biggest homegrown star.
Jay White promo
At last, Bullet Club Gold’s leader is given a live microphone. Jay needs more of these to cement unfamiliar fans as to why he was a huge deal in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Doubtlessly he will become a huge attraction if he’s utilized to his fullest.
Aussie Open promo
Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher have had a wild 2023. Becoming the tag champs of NJPW, NJPW Strong, and Ring of Honor, they may be tired of losing their gold and maybe they want to trade up for a massive opportunity. What I’m saying is that it’s time for the Aussies to take on the Carolina boys in FTR for another round.
Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli vs Ricky Starks & Big Bill
Blackpool Combat Club is one of the company’s best stables, and with talent like Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli among the ranks, it’s not hard to see why. But with the new brotherhood and goals in mind with Ricky Starks and Big Bill on the rise, these four men are bound to make for unforgettable action. My opinion on each of these men is very high, as are my expectations of this match, and I’m so ready for it.
So, there you have it. Not the most exciting card, but who knows – maybe a match or promo will be so good that we can’t complain, or there will be a surprise that will render complaints obsolete. Only one way to tell – tune in!
