Tama Tonga Regains The NEVER Openweight Championship at NJPW Destruction In Ryogoku, Names His Next Challenger
Tama Tonga has regained the NEVER Openweight Championship at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Destruction in Ryokoku on October 9th after defeating David Finlay for the title.
David Finlay took the NEVER Openweight Title from Tama Tonga at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku back on May 3rd and only made one defense of the championship before losing it back to Tama Tonga.
Backstage after the match, Tama Tonga indicated that he would like Shingo Takagi to get the first shot at his newly won NEVER Openweight Title.
If you could choose the next opponent, who would it be? But from the perspective of G1, it’s him. It’s Shingo (Takagi). What do you think? I’m not done with him yet. I want to do it with you. You’ve won the IWGP World Heavy. How about a rematch for the belt?
