An AEW star was backstage at AEW Collision after almost a year away.
Deeb has been off AEW television for nearly a year now, last competing on AEW Dark in October of last year. Many fans have wondered if Deeb is in fact still injured, but it appears that is not the only reason she has been off AEW television.
Fightful Select reported a few weeks back about a disagreement between Deeb and management, which has factored into her time away. The outlet has now reported that Deeb was backstage at AEW Collision over the weekend.
After nearly a full year away, we’re told that former NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb was backstage at the AEW Collision tapings on Saturday, October 13. Those that we’ve spoken to say they haven’t seen Serena backstage at all this year, and the area isn’t anywhere near where she would have just been visiting. Deeb last competed one year ago against Hollyhood Haley J on AEW Dark in Cincinnati. Since then she’s not been used on AEW TV, factored in creatively, or been backstage. However, she recently reappeared and popped up at the Cauliflower Alley Club. There were two different factors that led to her absence, as we’re told there was a significant disagreement with AEW management last year. However, she’s told several others that she’s been sidelined with a rough injury this year.

Deeb is a long time veteran of the sport and has challenged for the AEW Women’s World Championship on several occasions, including at last years AEW Grand Slam event.
Time will tell when Deeb will return to AEW television.
