Swerve Strickland Says There Is No Manager Like Prince Nana
Swerve Strickland says there is no manager like Prince Nana.
As of late, Prince Nana has gotten incredibly over with the AEW fanbase right alongside Swerve Strickland. For example, at AEW WrestleDream, when Swerve defeated Hangman Page and his theme music kicked in, the crowd was a sea of fans doing the “Nana”.
While speaking to Grapsody, Swerve Strickland stated that there is no manager like Prince Nana.
“It’s so unique, and honestly, it’s like, there’s no manager out there like him, right? That’s all I care about. That’s all that matters that we’re not biting off something else that somebody else is doing across the channel, overseas, it doesn’t matter. It’s very unique to us. Some people are like, ‘Oh, Nana’s overshadowing you.’ No, he’s not. Even if he is, I don’t care. He’s not wrestling. I’m wrestling. I’m supposed to give a different feel than he is. He’s supposed to give a different feel than I do. That’s the beauty of the partnership. He’s adding those little bits of, ‘Oh, did you see that? Oh my God. There is so much to look at.’ He’s not stealing shine. I tell him, ‘Go out there. Do you, bro. I’m not going to laugh.’ Half the time I don’t see what the hell he did. I just be walking and I’m in my zone, in my zen. Because that’s the dichotomy of us. He can be joyous, and bouncy, and jumpy, and animated when I have to be low, and brooding, and straight-laced, and focused in killer mode. I have my moments where I smile and stuff like that but most of the time, it’s Nana with the energy. It’s almost like, is Andre 3000 too bright and vibrant for Big Boy and OutKast? No, he’s supposed to be wearing these outlandish outfits. ‘But, man, I don’t know, you don’t have to match the group of OutKast.’ No, he’s fine,”
“It’s funny because when it didn’t blow up we were getting all the criticisms like, ‘Oh, Swerve doesn’t need him. He doesn’t need this group. He doesn’t need this. He doesn’t need that.’ I’m like, ‘Y’all don’t know what I need. I don’t know what I need. Let’s just see how it works. Nobody knows what anybody needs. No one can predict what’s going to blow up. So you just stick with your thing and you just do you until it takes enough time and then people gravitate toward it. Then, you’re seen in a different light. Me being put in a coffin with one of the best things that could happen to me because. Then people would criticize that like, ‘Oh, Swerve’s being put in a coffin. I don’t know how I feel about that.’ Alright, you don’t know what’s coming out of that coffin. That was a story in itself,”
