A new NJPW NEVER Openwieght Champion was crowned at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s STRONG Fight Spirit Unleashed event on October 28th in Las Vegas.
Shingo Takagi defeated Tama Tonga to win the NEVER Openweight Title for the third time in his career. Tonga was making his first defense of his own third reign as champion as he won the title back on October 9th when he defeated David Finlay for the belt.
Following the match, Takagi addressed the crowd and asked who his first challenger would be. The lights went out and Trent Berreta appeared via video, He announced that he was going to be the next challenger at NJPW STRONG Lonestar Shootout in Texas on November 10th.
