NJPW are looking to bring in a new championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom.
NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi said during the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 press conference that following the events of NJPW Power Struggle, where David Finlay destroyed both the IWGP US and UK Championships, a new title will be created for the event in January.
“Regarding the IWGP US belt, we will establish a new title. It is true that fans were confused whether it is a US belt or a UK belt, so we created a new one. We will announce the details soon,”

Finlay, Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley are set to compete in a triple threat match at Wrestle Kingdom 18 and now, it will be for the new championship that has yet to be revealed.
