Ric Flair Believes Some People In The WWE Aren’t Happy He Is Working For AEW
Back on the October 25th episode of AEW Dynamite, the legendary Ric Flair made a surprise appearance and was presented as the special gift to Sting. One week later, Flair officially signed with AEW and had been making appearances for the promotion. At AEW Full Gear, Flair accompanied Sting, Adam Copeland, & Darby Allin to the ring against Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, & Luchasaurus.
Despite not appearing for the WWE since he was released in 2021, he believes that there are people within the WWE who are upset at him for signing with their rival promotion.
Ric Flair brought this up while speaking to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. Sharpe asked Flair if the WWE honors legendary wrestlers at WrestleMania like the NFL does during the Super Bowl. Flair responded by saying the WWE does honor legends of professional wrestling and then had this to say about his feelings on some people being upset with him at the WWE:
I think some people are upset with me now that I went to work at AEW. I don’t know why. If you’re acknowledging, and you think I’ve contributed to the business, and I know I have because I hear it every day, you would think they would let me do whatever I want to do. As long as it doesn’t affect them. I’m not going to get on TV and say ‘AEW is better,’ I’m not doing something stupid. I’m just working. That’s all I know how to do. They’re mad. Not mad, but they did something…I’ll tell you off camera.

Ric Flair would not discuss what he was referring to when he said “they did something” while on camera.
As of this writing, the WWE has not removed the Ric Flair trademark Wooo! from it’s signature opening.
