A Settlement as been reached in the antitrust lawsuit MLW filed against WWE back in January of 2022.
Major League Wrestling filed a lawsuit in January 2022 accusing WWE of anticompetitive practices and interference in MLW’s business operations. MLW alleged that WWE, while under leadership of Vince McMahon, was responsible for pressuring third parties like VICE TV, and Tubi into abandoning deals with them, thus violating antitrust laws that hindered MLW’s growth.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics revealed that a settlement has been reached between MLW and WWE, and that both parties filed for the agreement today, finally marking the end of their almost two year legal dispute.
Court Documents showed that “The Parties are in the process of completing the final settlement documents and expect to file the appropriate dismissal papers within the next thirty (30) days.”
Additionally, The Judge terminated the previous deadlines set related to discovery and trial. MLW and WWE now on or before January 18th, 2024, have to “file a joint status report setting forth the status of settlement efforts as well as the amount of additional time necessary to finalize and file a dismissal.” If both parties file a stipulated dismissal by that date, they do not have to go to court on January 25th, 2024 for a status conference regarding settlement.
