Sami Zayn’s Partially Torn Meniscus May Be Legit

It might be awhile before we see Sami Zayn appear on WWE programming.

Sami Zayn has been off WWE TV since the December 4th episode of RAW, where he was attacked by Drew McIntyre seemingly being written off with an injury. On last night’s episode of RAW it was mentioned on commentary that Zayn has suffered a partially torn meniscus, which was believed to be a kayfabe injury. Now it appears as though that might not be the case.

It had previously been reported that Sami Zayn had requested some time off, and that the injury angle with McIntyre was believed to be a way to write him off of WWE TV. But now it sounds like the injury to Zayn might be legit.

On the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the injury to Sami Zayn, and noted that the partially torn meniscus may actually be legit. He also once again pointed out that Zayn had requested time off.

An estimated time table for a partially torn meniscus, could potentially keep Zayn out of action between four and eight weeks, depending on the severity of the tear. This could possibly keep Sami from being able to compete in the upcoming Royal Rumble which takes place on January 27th, 2024.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about whether or not the injury to Sami Zayn’s is legit or not, or if there is any news regarding a timetable for his return.
