Eddie Edwards has been a stalwart of the company – one of the veterans that the younger guys and turn to for help, and who always goes out of his way to put on great matches and feuds. His latest was Frankie Kazarian and that lasted a few months.
It sounds like Eddie is staying put with the company heading into the TNA rebrand in 2024.
Former Impact Wrestling World Champion Eddie Edwards confirmed to PWInsider.com this morning that he has locked in a new deal with TNA Impact Wrestling, several months ahead of his current deal expiring.
“I don’t think it’s much of a surprise” Edwards told PWInsider.com. “I don’t think my fans and friends are very much surprised that I’m sticking around, because everybody knows, how I feel about this company. I think especially right now with the momentum that we have with TNA coming back and all that excitement. For me, it was a no-brainer and I’m very happy to be here and continue being here as long as I’m able to.”
The new deal came together over the last several weeks after the two sides opened discussions while Impact was in Mexico for their Superclash event with Lucha Libre AAA. Edwards’ current deal was slated to expire in February 2024.
Eddie teamed with Brian Myers this past Saturday at Final Resolution to take on ABC for the IMPACT Tag Team Titles in their quest for gold. The duo fell short, but it was a pretty good match overall.
Edwards is a former 2x IMPACT World Champion, 2x X Division Champion, and 5x TNA/IMPACT Tag Team Champion.
Moments ago, TNA took to their social media Twitter account to confirm the re-signing of Edwards.
This signing comes just a day after TNA announced the signing of Kushida, as well as days after Scott D’Amore signed Trent Seven to a contract at Final Resolution.
PCO and Leon Slater were the first two official signings under the TNA banner.
