Andrade El Idolo Officially Says Goodbye To AEW, Thanks Tony Khan, AEW Roster, Staff, And Fans
Andrade El Idolo officially says goodbye to AEW.
Reports surfaced over the weekend that Andrade El Idolo was wrapping up his time with All Elite Wrestling following the company’s World’s End PPV on December 30th, and that he would become a free agent on January 1st. Tony Khan commented on the reports in the AEW World’s End post show media scrum, confirming that Andrade’s contract was set to expire, and that they did not expect him to re-sign with AEW.
Andrade issued a statement today via his social media accounts thanking Tony Khan and AEW for the time he spent with the company, and said goodbye to all the talent, security, cameramen, refs, and everyone else that worked in the company. He went on to list specific talents by name, and and those he enjoyed sharing time in the ring with. Additionally, Andrade mentioned that he would have loved to have faced Moxley, Hangman Page (unless it was Ethan Page), Hobbs, Ricky, Dante one of the Cage’s, and Dustin (presumably Rhodes.) He also thanked the fans for their support and wished everyone the best.
“I want to thank you for this time that I belonged to the company @aew and above all to Tony khan I also want to say goodbye to all the talent, security people, cameramen, referees and everyone who works in the company for being part of my time in AEW. kenny, young bucks, tazz, Shiavone, Aubrey, Jerry, Hobbs, hook, Kingston, Ricky, Orange, thunder, jack Perry, Austin, Colten, Sonjay and many more that I can name, also how to forget all the Mexicans (todo el relajo) I enjoyed sharing the ring with STING, PAC, Darby, Garcia, Jay and many more. I would have loved to face MOX, Page, Hobbs, Ricky, Dante, Cage, Dustin. Thank you AEW AND Thank you to all the fans for your support always. I wish you the best always!!!”
It has been reported that the belief is that Andrade is expected to return to WWE following his contract with AEW expiring.
