Tetsuya Naito is the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion having defeated SANADA for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in front of a very pro Naito crowd at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th.
Tetsuya Naito was able to hit his Destino for the fourth time in the match to finally put away SANADA and win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for the first time much to the delight of the Tokyo Dome crowd. Naito is a three time IWGP Heavyweight Champion but this is his first reign at IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
Following the match Naito was attacked by Evil and Dick Togo but was saved by SANADA. Naito closed the show by addressing the fans as the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
