WWE working with AJPW may not be just a one-off.
WWE NXT star (and son of William Regal), Charlie Dempsey recently made headlines when the company sent him to compete in AJPW. Dempsey had a successful run in Japan, winning his first two matches and earned an opportunity at the AJPW Triple Crown Championship, however, the NXT star would come up short in his bid for gold against reigning champion, Katsuhiko Nakajima at AJPW: New Giant Series 2024.
Despite the seemingly singular appearance, the relationship between WWE and AJPW could be far from over.
“I was told it’s an ongoing thing, although there are certainly people in All Japan who have mixed feelings on it. But right now, that’s the president of All Japan (decision). And, you know, WWE, they’ve got a deal going right now.”
