Samoa Joe’s first AEW World Championship defense has been set.
During the Jan. 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Champion, Samoa Joe laid out the new ‘contenders protocol’ for potential future challengers. In the new ‘protocol’ hopeful challengers must build their record before presenting their case to the ‘championship committee,’ and if they’re approved, they’ll get an opportunity against him for the AEW World Title.
Apparently the first person to fit the bill is HOOK. The FTW Champion laid out a challenge to Joe, this past weekend on ‘Collision’ and his dreams became a reality as it was officially announced during tonight’s broadcast that HOOK will challenge Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship, next Wednesday night on ‘Dynamite!’
