Dustin Rhodes: Stop Body Shaming, You Stupid Mother F******
Dustin Rhodes is a legend in this industry. As the son of the son of a plumber, he had mighty big shoes to fill when he decided he wanted to become a professional wrestler like his dad, the late, great Dusty Rhodes. Still, despite the legacy he was tasked with carrying on, Dustin carved out his own legacy, portraying a variety of characters from ‘The Natural’ Dustin Rhodes to his most famous creation, ‘Goldust.’
Rhodes is a bona fide legend in the world of professional wrestling and he is currently a member of the All Elite Wrestling promotion. In addition to being an on-air character and actually still competing (in fact, he’s scheduled to fight Christian Cage on Wednesday for the TNT Title), Rhodes also serves as one of the company’s coaches, focusing primarily on the AEW women wrestlers.
Rhodes has made a significant contribution to women’s wrestling, both in AEW and in WWE, and when people go after his pupils, like a proud papa, he will immediately rush to their defense.
Such was the case recently when some inconsequential fans opted to body shame one of wrestling’s fastest rising stars, Deonna Purrazzo.
Purrazzo recently competed against Red Sky in AEW, the comments that followed showcased the absolute worst of the Internet Wrestling Community.
Fortunately, countless others came to Purrazzo’s defense, reminding her just how beautiful, capable, and strong she was. More importantly, Purrazzo came to her own defense, saying that “after a cry,” she remembered that her worth is not determined by her body, nor by others’ perceptions of her.
Dustin Rhodes also came to Purrazzo’s defense (not that she even needed one…the woman is STUNNING) and her offered up a bit of advice for those who choose to body shame ANYBODY, let alone somebody as gorgeous as Purrazzo.
Wiser words have possibly never been spoken.
