Butch Reportedly Being ‘Discussed’ to Get Pete Dunne Name Back
The Pete Dunne name may me nearing a return.
According to Fightful Select, it’s been discussed internally in WWE for the Pete Dunne name to return in place of Butch.
“Fightful has confirmed that a change back to Pete Dunne has long been discussed, with one source in WWE saying ‘it’s exactly what it looks like.’
We were told at the time that Butch’s name was changed from Dunne, it got some of the heaviest pushback in recent WWE memory. At least one that we spoke of said of it “It wasn’t even that it was a bad name. The name was okay, it was fine. But there was already a Butch. An actual wrestler named Butch already in our Hall of Fame.”

Pete Dunne made his WWE main roster debut in March 2022, where he aligned himself with Sheamus and Ridge Holland. However, Dunne’s name was changed to his current moniker, Butch, much to the dismay of many fans and pundits alike.
BodySlam will provide any updates on the status of Butch potentially returning to Pete Dunne as they become available.
