El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. Comments On Being 1st Mexican To Win The GHC Heavyweight Title
History was made on February 4th at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s CROSS OVER 2024 in SENDAI event at the Sendai Sun Plaza Hall. Over 1100 fans in attendance were on hand to witness El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. defeat KENOH to become the first Mexican ever to win the GHC Heavyweight Title. It was a top rope moonsault by Wagner Jr. that was able to put away KENOH at the 29:37 mark of the match.
Following his historic title win, Wagner Jr. had these comments during a backstage interview:
“I was away from my family & sacrificed a lot. It was a really long road but everything paid off. From now on I will be the champion representing NOAH, Japan & the World. I’m really happy to be the 1st Mexican to win this title”

Wagner Jr. is set to defend his title for the first time on March 31st against former champion Jake Lee. Lee immediately challenged Wagner Jr. after he won the GHC Heavyweight Championship from KENOH. Pro Wrestling NOAH made that match official on February 4th.
In addition to being the first Mexican GHC Heavyweight Champion, Wagner Jr is only the second foreigner to win the coveted title. TNA star Eddie Edwards was the first as he won the title back in 2017.
