Earlier today, Dave Meltzer released the latest issue of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter. In it, an update on the estimated number of PPV and streaming buys emerged for the TNA Hard To Kill PPV.
“To say Hard to Kill was an overwhelming success would be an understatement. It ended up doing 19,700 buys on television PPV. That’s more than double the prior PPV, Bound for Glory, which did under 6,900 on television and that was considered huge. The show ended up doing far more than even the Kenny Omega vs. Rich Swann champion vs. champion show. If you factor in streaming buys, this should end up at around 60,000 which would be the same as the Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle record that was set at TNA Genesis in 2006.”
With regards to trying to run a Live weekly show, Dave stated:
“There is a major goal of moving the TV to live, where they would shoot every week at the same location. Ed Nordholm, Scott D’Amore and Lou D’Angeli had made a connection with Full Sail University in Orlando as the location. They had recently toured the camps and after D’Amore was let go and Nordholm was removed from the picture, Leonard Asper and other execs were also interested and were said to have toured Full Sail. The original plan was for a test weekend of taped shows at the new location, whether Full Sail or somewhere else, in May or June with the idea of starting up going live each week in late 2024 or early 2025.”
The fact that Len Asper and others have visited other sites since Scott’s departure seems like it bodes well for the company at least trying to go LIVE on their original schedule, which would be the end of this year/beginning of next year.
