Jake Hager: Bellator MMA Was Working To Make A Fight Between Me And Fedor Emelianenko Happen
Jake Hager wanted to fight one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time.
Following his departure from the WWE, Jake Hager signed with All Elite Wrestling and joined the world of MMA by signing with Bellator MMA where he won in his debut before amassing a record of 3-0-1 inside the cage.
Hager didn’t fight any big names, however, he does recall the time that Bellator MMA was working to make a huge fight go down between Hager and MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko.
“From the moment that I got to Bellator, I knew that it could happen. Bellator was working for it to happen. Can you imagine the All American American fighting Fedor in Moscow. It’s Rocky. I really felt like it was my fight. They gave it to a very deserving ranked heavyweight. Fedor was on fire that night. He didn’t look old at all. He was quick, he was strong, it was an impressive showing. Maybe I got lucky that they didn’t pick me. I would have taken it in a heartbeat,” Hager told Monopoly Events.
Emelianenko retired following his last bout where he lost in a rematch to then-Bellator Heavyweight Champion Ryan Bader. Hager retired from the sport following his last bout in 2020.
