Adam Copeland: If You Had Told 12-Year-Old Me That I’d Be Stepping In An I Quit Match With Christian Cage, I’d Say You Were Nuts
Adam Copeland is grateful to be in the ring.
Adam Copeland made his first return to Toronto since his final match in the WWE where he ended his tenure against Sheamus in a first-time-ever singles match between the two legends. Copeland recently fought his former best friend Christian Cage on AEW Dynamite for the TNT Championship in an I Quit Match.
While talking about the match on TSN 1050, this is what Copeland had to say about the build and how he feels stepping foot in Toronto again.
“Any time I get to come home, right? The last time I performed in Toronto, I didn’t know if I would continue wrestling, I really didn’t. Fast forward six or seven months later, here I am, and it’s kind of my perfect storm. I’m wrestling a guy that I’ve known since the sixth grade. We’re doing it in our hometown. It’s an I Quit match. There are all of these stakes. It’s so much fun. If you had told 12-year-old Adam in Orangeville that one day, 40 years down the road, we’d be stepping into the ring against each other, I’d say you’re nuts, but here we are,” he said.
Copeland went on to force Cage to say ‘I Quit’ to win the TNT Championship for a second time in his career.
